Pre-Season Maintenance: Your October Checklist

In Northern California, the most critical maintenance window is October — before the rainy season begins. That means cleaning gutters of summer debris, trimming overhanging branches that deposit leaves and abrade shingles, clearing moss or algae growth from north-facing roof planes, and visually checking pipe boot seals and flashing for cracks. Post-Season Spring Inspection and Repair Planning

A second inspection in March, after the wet season ends, helps catch any damage that accumulated over winter. Catching these issues in spring gives you time to schedule repairs before the next rainy season — and before minor problems turn into mold, rot, or structural damage that costs ten times more to fix.
