Watertight Membrane Systems

Flat & Low-Slope Roofing in Sonoma County

Low-slope and flat roofs need a different approach than pitched roofs. We install TPO, modified bitumen, and built-up membrane systems engineered for positive drainage and a watertight seal.

Flat & Low-Slope Systems We Install

A flat roof lives or dies by its drainage and its seams. We get both right.

  • TPO single-ply membrane (heat-welded seams)
  • Modified bitumen (torch-down & cold-applied)
  • Built-up roofing (tar & gravel)
  • Tapered insulation & crickets for positive drainage
  • Parapet wall and coping flashing
  • Curb, vent, and penetration flashing detail
  • Roof drains, scuppers, and overflow protection
  • Roof coatings & restoration for existing flat roofs
  • Energy-efficient cool-roof white membranes
  • Full workmanship warranty

Flat Roof Installation Process

Drainage first, seams second, no shortcuts.

01
Roof Evaluation

We assess slope, existing drainage, ponding areas, and substrate condition to recommend the right membrane system.

02
Drainage Design

Tapered insulation and crickets are designed so water moves to drains and scuppers — no standing water that shortens roof life.

03
Tear-Off & Prep

We remove failed membrane, repair decking, and prepare a clean, dry substrate for the new system.

04
Membrane Installation

Seams are heat-welded or torch-applied and every penetration is flashed to a watertight detail.

05
Flood Test & Warranty

We confirm drainage performs, document the system, and register the manufacturer warranty.

Flat & Low-Slope Roofing — FAQ

How long does a flat roof last in Sonoma County?

A properly installed TPO or modified bitumen system typically lasts 20–30 years. The biggest factor is drainage — flat roofs that pond water fail early, which is why we design tapered drainage into every install.

Can you fix ponding water on my existing flat roof?

Often, yes. We add tapered insulation, crickets, or additional drains to move water off the roof. For roofs near the end of life, a coating or re-cover can buy years before a full replacement.

What's the difference between TPO and modified bitumen?

TPO is a single-ply white membrane with heat-welded seams — energy-efficient and great for larger low-slope roofs. Modified bitumen is an asphalt-based system well-suited to smaller residential flat sections and tie-ins. We'll recommend the right one for your roof.

Do you do flat roof repairs, not just replacements?

Yes. We repair seams, flashings, and penetrations, and we offer roof coatings to extend the life of a flat roof that isn't ready for full replacement.
