A roof that can't breathe cooks shingles from below and traps moisture in your attic. We design balanced intake-and-exhaust ventilation that extends roof life and lowers attic temperatures.
Good ventilation is a balance of intake and exhaust. Get it wrong and you make things worse — we size it right.
Ridge venting and soffit intake built into Sonoma County roofs.
We measure the airflow, not guess at it.
We inspect existing intake and exhaust, check for moisture and heat signs, and calculate your attic's required net free vent area.
Most homes have too much exhaust and too little intake. We design a balanced ridge-and-soffit system so air actually moves.
We open or add soffit/eave intake and install baffles so insulation never blocks the airflow path.
Continuous ridge vent — or solar fans where the roofline won't allow it — provides steady, weather-rated exhaust.
We confirm airflow, check for weather-tight detailing, and document the system.
Trapped attic heat bakes shingles from underneath and shortens roof life, while trapped moisture leads to mold and rotted decking. Balanced ventilation protects both your roof and your attic, and it helps keep the house cooler in summer.
It's the ratio between intake (low, at the soffits/eaves) and exhaust (high, at the ridge). Air has to enter low and exit high. Too much exhaust without intake pulls conditioned air from the house and can actually pull rain in — so we size both sides together.
They can be, especially on roofs where continuous ridge venting isn't possible. They move air without adding to your power bill. But a fan is no substitute for adequate intake — we make sure the soffit side can feed it.
Often yes. Soffit intake, static vents, and solar fans can be added without a full re-roof. Continuous ridge vent is best added during a re-roof, so we'll tell you what makes sense for your timing.
Ridge venting, soffit intake, and balanced attic airflow for homes throughout the North Bay.
"Our upstairs was unbearable in summer. Sutter balanced the attic ventilation with ridge and soffit vents — noticeably cooler and our HVAC runs less."
"We had mold starting in the attic from poor airflow. They diagnosed the intake problem, added soffit venting and baffles, and it's dry now."
"Added ridge venting during our re-roof. They explained the intake-exhaust balance clearly — you can tell they actually understand it."
